Limiting God: Exodus 4.10-17

As we look toward a new year, many people are making resolutions and promises. One of the biggest problems we have in that process is that we limit what God is able to do in our lives. Make sure that as the new year dawns you are listening for what God wants you to do.

When you hear what God is telling you, be sure to pay attention. Do not ignore his word or his work. Moses, like so many people, tried to get out of God's will for his life. He argued about his incompetence, his fear and his inability. However, God answered every objection that Moses had. Likewise, he will answer all of our objections.

When we tell God that we cannot do something, we limit what God can do.

God's ability should not be limited by our willingness to obey. We should always be willing to follow God wherever he leads, no matter what that does to our personal comfort or experience.

So, when we are thinking about a new year, a new life and God's will, what should we consider?
  • We should work toward our greatest potential. Always develop your gifts and abilities. Do your best and focus on what God has given you to do. Do not become lazy, distracted or bored while in the process of working toward your potential.
  • Develop and expand your potential. When you accomplish your goals, make sure that you have more goals out there to conquer. Keep growing in your faith and leadership. If you do not grow, develop and expand, you will certainly go backwards in your faith.
  • Allow God to do the miraculous. God is willing and able to minister to us and through us. However, we must do our part. When we are faithful, God will work. Do not try to control the ministry that the Lord has blessed you with, but let Him work in and through it.
