The 52 Plan: Luke 14.12-24

We should invite everyone we know to come (v. 16)

When they do not respond, we should
  • Go quickly to invite others (v. 21). There is no time to form a committee or to develop plans. Those things just keep us from doing what we need to do. Go. Now. Invite everyone you know.

  • Go to those who have not been invited (v. 21). We have a tendency to invite people just like us. The problem is that there are more people who are not like us. Look around you and find the people that you have overlooked in the past. Invite them.

  • Bring them back with us (v. 21). Do not assume that your work is finished when you invite someone to Christ. You must follow through and bring them with you.

  • Go to the hard places (v. 23). You may have to work to fulfill the 52 Plan. You might have to go where you have never been.

  • Compel people to come (v. 23). The force of the word "compel" cannot be overstated. If you really believe that lost people will die to eternal punishment, you will do everything you can to get them to come.

Think about this:

Who was the last person that you invited to come to church?

When was the last time that you invited someone to come to church?

How many people have you ever invited to come to church?

Commit to...

  • Invite one person each week for this year.

  • Pray for the people that you are inviting.

  • Find a partner to help you (and that you can help).

This one however is a little scary. The last person I invited to church that I really remember just laughed in my face. Not very good incentive to keep asking. All I can say is that I'll pray about it.
