Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4.8-9
Problems we all must deal with include, pornography, “sexting”, the sex trade (which includes dancing, stripping, prostitution, human trafficking/ slavery), hooking up, living together and inappropriate relationships.
Are these things “victimless?”
- They stay with you.
- They create patterns of thought and behavior.
- They lead to ever deeper and more dangerous behaviors.
- They are highly addictive and consuming.
- They create guilt, doubt, shame and animosity to others.
- They make intimacy more difficult.
- They compromise your relationships.
A few ways to deal with these issues in a personal way:
1. Focus on the things that are pleasing to God.
2. Be occupied with positive things.
3. Find someone else to be accountable to.
4. Pray. Repent. Pray.
All sins, even sex sins, can be forgiven by God.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1.9
Take Away Point-
No one is immune from temptation. There are issues that I struggle with from time to time. But today, I commit myself to focus on the things that Christ wants for my life. I will follow him and his way.
