To Lead or Not to Lead: Titus 1

The reflections shared here from the book of Titus are gleaned from my reading of the passages from the New King James Version, The Message, The New Living Translation, The Amplified Bible and the Contemporary English version, among others.

v. 1- Paul is an apostle, God's agent.
Paul is a bond servant, God's slave.
v. 2- God cannot lie. Everything about God is truth.
v. 4- Titus is Paul's "true son," or legitimate son.
This seems to go beyond a spiritual relationship. There is something real and tangible about the relationship between Titus and Paul. Their love and respect for one another goes beyond a collegial association.
We should seek out such relationships. We must be willing to lead and be led. To mentor, and to be mentored.
Tuesday's With Morrie is a great example of this attitude.

Leaders must be honorable...
  1. In family relationships (v.6). Faithful in marriage, with godly children who are growing in faith.
  2. In his/her personal life (v. 7). Holy, humble, patient, temperate and generous.
  3. In relationships with others (v. 8). Loving, friendly, open, devout, sensible and godly.
  4. In relation to God (v. 9). Faithful to God's word, able to lead and teach others, opposing to those who stand against the truth.
12-13 Is this a sign of racism?
Q- How should Christians reach out to others without coming across as having an imperialistic, I know what's best attitude?
A- Always be filled with love and the grace of God. Never compromise the truth. Identify those who need to hear without getting an attitude of superiority.

15- To the holy, everything is holy. When your mind is fixed on Christ, it is easier to stay focused on the things of God.
