How to Celebrate Communion: 1 Corinthians 11.17-26

Whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you

proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

1 Corinthians 11.26

Proclaim- to extol or praise publicly: to “proclaim the Lord.”

Transubstantiation- Communion becomes the body and blood of Christ.

Contransubstantiation- Communion delivers to us the body and blood of Christ.

  1. Communion is grounded in Scripture. Luke 22, 24

  2. Communion defines the church.

  3. Communion celebrates God's creation.

  4. Communion connects us to Christ.

  5. Communion creates a community.

Take Away Point-

Jesus invites us to unite with his body in Holy Communion. By doing that we unify the church by sharing in the Lord's Supper. I know what Jesus did for me.

I understand the importance of Communion.

I will be part of the body.
